Painting
Robbert’s work follows the tradition of the hard-edge colour field painting of the sixties. He applies a great variety of industrial paints, acrylics, oils or enamels on aluminium or MDF to create refined textures and combinations of colour fields. His subject matter consists of elements of urban and natural landscapes which he encounters during his travels.
He reduces and edits the imagery, often obtained from photography, until the remaining image becomes sufficiently abstract to make the colours the focus of the work. In his approach colours are key to conveying a specific feeling or emotion relating to the subject of the painting. Depending on his subject matter his visual language varies from almost geometric shapes to more flowing and organic patterns.
His work has been commissioned by both private and commercial clients and has been exhibited in the UK, Spain, and The Netherlands. Contact us if you are interested in his paintings or would like to commission him. Let’s talk over a coffee, you never know where it could lead…
